Butler Township has decided how funds will be distributed to their three volunteer fire departments this year.
At a meeting Monday night, the Butler Township commissioners voted to keep the percentage the same as last year when dividing up the $113,000.
That means the Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, the former Greenwood Village, Meridian, and Lyndora stations that were combined last year, receives about $58,000 or around 50 percent of the money available.
The Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Department will get nearly $28,000 or 25 percent of the total. The South Butler Volunteer Fire Department will also get about $28,000.
About 190 men and women volunteers make up the three departments. Officials say they responded to over 1,000 incidents in Butler Township in 2014.
