A Butler Township home was moderately damaged by fire Thursday afternoon.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center just before 1 p.m. for witness reports of large flames from a house in the 200 block of Grandview Boulevard. No one was home at the time.
Crews from Butler Township, Butler City, the Butler VA, East Butler, Herman, Saxonburg, and Penn Township were among those responding to find heavy smoke from the roof of a two-story residential structure. The heaviest fire damage occurred in the kitchen where the fire is believed to have started.
Multiple dogs, cats, snakes, and rabbits were reportedly in the structure. West Penn Power was requested to provide a remote disconnect to the property. The fire was under control after about 40 minutes. The Red Cross has been notified to assist the family.
