High School Sports:
–Both the Butler Girls and Boys Track and Field teams won the sixth annual Knoch Relays Saturday. The Butler Girls totaled 142 points to runner-up Kiski’s 80 points. The Butler Boys totalled 140 points. Beaver was runner-up with 68. The Tornado Girls won 10 of the 17 events. Taylor Timmons was part of four winning events, including the High Jump. Autumn Pettinato and Anna Baxter had three wins. Butler will meet North Allegheny Tuesday.
Butler basketball junior guard Ethan Morton has been named Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Player of the Year. Morton averaged more than 27 points per game and 10 rebounds and made the P-G’s Fab Five list for the second year in a row. Pine-Richland’s Dan Petcash also made the Fab Five.
Tess Myers of North Catholic made the Girls Fab Five.
Morton, Petcash and Myers were named to the WPIAL All-Section lists as well. Nine Butler County boys made the All-Section lists, along with five Butler County girls.
