With the latest state budget setting aside record amounts for public education, school districts are set to receive that increased funding.
Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White says the district was allotted just over $33 million in state funding for this fiscal year. That’s an increase of $2.2 million from last year.
White says one area that will increase is in school safety and mental health funding.
“There’s new safety and security money that was included in the budget, but the state has also provided a detailed list of what the eligible expenses are, which is okay because it’s all good stuff,” White said. “If you read the list, you were nod your head and say ‘This makes sense.’”
The allotment for security and mental health is a one-time funding plan for around $400,000.
