All schools in the Butler Area School District will again dismiss two hours early Wednesday because of the forecasted high temperatures.
Butler School District Superintendent Dr. Brian White recently wrote a letter to parents explaining that the district was considering dismissing students early this week because of the high temperatures, especially in the afternoon. He said during the first week of school, he saw some students were uncomfortably hot in some of the district buildings.
Lunch will still be served and it will count as a full day of school. After school activities including athletics may be canceled or rescheduled for later in the evening. Activity advisors or coaches will provide additional specific information.
White said the early dismissals are a short-term solution and he will work with the school board to develop a long-term solution.
