With the consent of the Butler Area School Board, Butler school administrators have taken action to modify the district’s Health and Safety plan.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White shared recent changes in guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that will allow the district to term the wearing of masks to be “optional” instead of “recommended”.
Another big change effective immediately is that masks are no longer required to be worn on school buses. This was previously considered to be a requirement of the federal Transportation Security Administration but that agency has shifted authority back to the CDC.
Finally, Butler will end the practice of contact tracing with regard to COVID but could resume if needed in the event of an outbreak.
