The process for the Butler Area School District to hire a new varsity girls basketball coach is moving forward.
After accepting a letter of resignation from former coach Dorothea Epps at their meeting Monday night, applications will continue to be accepted through Friday. Next Athletic Director Bill Mylan will choose several applicants to be interviewed. Once the candidates have been narrowed to two or three finalists, the school board will participate.
Parents are not expected to participate in the interviewing or hiring process. Official action is expect at the board’s next meeting December 1st although a special meeting could be held before then if the process moves more quickly than expected.
The girls basketball season started Monday night with practices run by an assistant who was not part of the staff last year.
