The Butler Area School Board could name their next district superintendent today.
A special meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. this evening at the Harriger Educational Services Center administrative building.
After accepting former Superintendent Dr. Dale Lumley’s resignation in February following fallout after it was made public that there was high levels of lead in the drinking water at one of the district’s elementary schools, the board hired consultant Tom Templeton to assist with the search for a replacement. A series of stakeholder meetings were held in May to solicit feedback from district employees and the public. Interviews began in June and continued with a second round in July.
Retired Mars Superintendent and current Mars School Board member Dr. William Pettigrew has been serving in the role of Acting Superintendent for the past six months.
