Butler Area School Board members and district administrators continue to prepare for a vote in January on if they will need to petition the state to have the ability to raise taxes above the inflation index.
Director of Business Services Deborah Brandstetter told the board’s finance committee Monday night that she anticipates having a draft of a preliminary budget ready sometime in the next week.
A variety of factors are still undetermined- such as state funding and possible staff changes- but the board will need to vote before Jan. 26 on a request that would allow for an exception to the current 3 percent increase limit.
Board member Bill Halle requested an additional working meeting of the finance committee so a public meeting for Friday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. has been scheduled.
