Butler Area School District administrators do not anticipate the need for modular classrooms or “trailers” to accommodate the moving of 9th grade students to the Senior High next school year.
Work on the classroom addition project at the Senior High is ongoing and the district had explored the possibility of bringing in trailers because the project will probably not be finished by September.
With an estimated price tag of over $300,000 to rent six of the modular classrooms, the district is now planning on dividing large spaces to use for classrooms as well as using science lab space for regular classes.
According to district officials, the money saved by not renting the trailers will instead be invested in more permanent improvements such as new equipment necessary for studying physics.
