The Butler BlueSox defeated the Jamestown Jammers 4-1 last night in the Prospect League. Butler starting pitcher Tyler Slepski allowed just three hits and one run over eight innings. Slepski, a Butler native, did not walk a batter and struck out three. He improved his record to 3-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.89 this season. Closer Zach Spangler pitched a perfect ninth inning for his club-record 14th save. First baseman David Marcus, who had a 15-game hitting streak ended the night before, hit two home runs in the game, and has a league-leading seven for the year. The victory kept the BlueSox within a game and a half of first-place Champion City, who defeated Richmond 7-2 last night. Butler will host Quincy of the Western Division tonight for a double-header. First game will begin at 5:05pm.
