The Butler Middle School was swept by canine officers on Thursday after an inappropriate message was found.
In a letter to parents on Thursday evening, Superintendent Brian White said called the message ‘non-credible.’ He said it was discovered late in the school day. Police were contacted and the building was swept by canine units as a precautionary measure. Nothing was found.
White reiterated that the Butler Area School District takes all threats seriously and appropriate disciplinary action, and legal action, will be taken against the person responsible.

Dear Parents and Guardians:
An inappropriate, non credible message was discovered at the Middle School late in the school day on Thursday, May 10. Local law enforcement was contacted and, as a precautionary measure, the building was swept by canine units.
The school district takes all threats seriously and will engage in all appropriate disciplinary action under the student code of conduct and under Pennsylvania State Law. Additionally restitution for additional costs to the school district and law enforcement will be pursued.

If you see or hear any disturbing statements involving our schools or students, please remember to immediately report it to the school district and local law enforcement.
We are fortunate to have School Police Officers at each school. In addition, we have many safety measures in place and will constantly strive to improve our school security. If you ever have questions or concerns about school safety, please contact your child’s principal.
