The mayor of Butler has filed a lawsuit against the city as well as three current city council members.
Tom Donaldson filed the civil suit in the Butler County Court of Common Pleas on December 15th against the city of Butler as well as council members Kathy Kline, Michael Walter, and Corey Roche.
The suit is in regard to a vote taken last April to promote two Butler City Firefighters. Kline, Walter, and Roche voted in favor of the promotions even though those firefighters allegedly had not met the Civil Service examination requirement for promotion. City Council adopted the Civil Service rules and regulations in September of 2015.
Donaldson is suing with the goal of overturning the promotions and returning the firefighters to their previous rank as well as attorney fees and costs in bringing the suit. The case has been assigned to Judge Marilyn Horan.
