A Butler man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to federal drug charges.
27-year-old Charles Perkins will serve 15 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release on one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and crack.
The Department of Justice says State Police pulled over a vehicle driven by Perkins in August of 2020 near the intersection of South Duffy and New Castle Roads. Troopers observed drugs in plain view and a search of the vehicle revealed crack cocaine, fentanyl, and other drug paraphernalia, as well as nearly $1,000.
Perkins admitted to being on his way to the City of Butler to sell the drugs and also allegedly told law enforcement that if he was released from jail he would immediately begin dealing drugs again because of the money he was making.
After sentencing, Perkins was returned to the Butler County Prison where he is awaiting five other cases pending before the Butler County Court of Common Pleas.
