A Butler man will be featured on this weekend’s episode of “Naked and Afraid” on the Discovery Channel.
Jon Hart, 34, is an optician and photographer who grew up in New Jersey but moved to Butler County as a student at Slippery Rock University and stayed.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the show, and the outdoors. I’m an avid hiker, camper and backpacker,” Hart said. “I’m always looking for the next thing to push my mind and body.”
His latest adventure will be featured on Sunday’s episode of the wilderness survival show, which takes contestants into extreme environments and tasks them with surviving for 21 days. The contestants are also completely naked.
“You meet your partner on the show- naked. That’s the awkward and fun part about it,” Hart said with a chuckle. “And then- essentially- you’re thrown into one of the most extreme environments around the world. You’re given three items that are meant to help you survive. And the goal is to get to 21 days.”
Hart said the fact that he was naked was actually the least of his worries.
“I’ve always been very comfortable in my own skin. It’s a little awkward, but it quickly goes out the window,” he said. “Your mind immediately starts worrying about your environment and how you’re going to get through the next three weeks.”
On Sunday’s show- which airs at 9 p.m.- viewers will find out where Hart was taken and if he made it through the 21 days.
