Rape charges have now been filed against the Butler man accused of strangling a juvenile.
Butler City Police filed the additional charges on Monday against 37-year-old Danny Nichols of Butler. He’s now accused of raping the juvenile on several occasions.
Police say the assaults took place inside a home on Standard Avenue in Butler.
Officers were initially called to Nichols’ home on Sunday, Dec. 2 after the juvenile told her mother that she had been assaulted, even strangled. Nichols refused to come outside for police that night, despite them using flash bangs and tear gas. A search then ensued for him for several days before he walked into a church and turned himself in without incident.
Nichols remains in the Butler County Prison now on $200,000 bail. He is facing several felony charges including rape, strangulation and incest.
