A Butler man is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy at a city park.
Joseph Maggio, 23, was arrested Tuesday by Butler City police. Officers allege he assaulted the boy last summer at Butler Memorial Park during a walk in which he was talking to the victim about puberty.
According to court documents, the victim told police Maggio was a previous neighbor and had also lived with his family for a short time.
Maggio allegedly admitted to the crime during an interview with police earlier this week, according to a criminal complaint.
Officers began this investigation after a tip came through the ChildLine abuse hotline earlier this summer.
