Butler is tied with Allegheny County for the lowest unemployment rate in the region.
According to the latest numbers from the state Department of Labor and Industry, Butler County’s jobless rate was 4.9 percent in February.
Of the seven counties in the area, Fayette and Armstrong had the highest number of people seeking work, with rates of 7.3 percent and 6.7 percent, respectively.
The report showed the region as a whole held steady at 5.3 percent as employers added more jobs during the month and over the last year.
