The Butler hockey team saw their season come to an end last night when they fell 5-0 to Peters Township in the first round of the PIHL Triple-A playoffs.
The Slippery Rock University women’s indoor track and field team discovered Tuesday afternoon that five Rock student-athletes have been accepted to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships March 11-12 at Pittsburg State in Kansas.
Slippery Rock will send Sabrina Anderson (Warren, Pa./Warren Area), Kaitlyn Clark (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson), Paige Kassab (Meadville, Pa./Meadville), Ashley West (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Leah Anne Wirfel (Portage, Pa./Forest Hills) to compete in the national meet. The National Championships will kick off Friday, March 11 at Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas. Four of the five Slippery Rock qualifiers will compete on the opening day.
Slippery Rock also had two more athletes that were agonizingly close to the cutoff for the national meet. Jasmine Bailey’s (Butler, Pa./Butler) all-time PSAC 400-meter record time of 55.49 seconds was just off the final accepted time of 55.28
