The Butler School Board voted Thursday to hire an outside contractor to manage district food service beginning next school year.
The Nutrition Group of Irwin is guaranteeing the district an $85,000 profit after the first year and will at least break-even in years two through five.
Five current food service management positions were eliminated but Butler Area School District Food Service Employees were retained and did not lose their jobs. Some of them, however, did choose to retire.
