The secondary schools in the Butler Area School District are on lockdown following what district leaders call a “vague threat.”
Both the Butler Intermediate and Senior High School are both on perimeter lockdowns.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White said the district was made aware of a “vague threat to secondary schools” circulating the region. White says there was no indication of a specific threat to a school in the district, but they are taking precautions to ensure the safety of students.
Local police have been notified and will have more of a presence on campus today.
Our newsroom is working to learn if any other district has been impacted.
There were also online rumors of Butler Memorial Hospital being on a lockdown as well, but a hospital spokesperson says that is not the case.
