Students at Butler High School are mourning the loss of one of their classmates.
The district confirmed that a fatal accident involving a student happened Friday morning. Butler City Police say the accident happened at the student’s home as she was getting ready for school. No additional details have been released.
“We were deeply saddened to learn that a student at the Butler Area School District had a tragic accident this morning. Due to student confidentiality laws, we are unable to confirm the student’s name or age. On behalf of the Butler Area school community, we extend our deepest sympathy to the student’s family and friends at this difficult time,” the district said in a statement.
The Butler County coroner says an autopsy will be performed.
Additional counselors are at the Senior High School on Friday for students and staff.
