A former local student was arrested last week after he made two mass shooting threats online, one of which involved a local school district.
According to our news partners at WPXI, 28-year-old Bryan Flecken of South Fayette Township is in custody after an investigation by the FBI and South Fayette Township police. Authorities say that Flecken, a 2008 graduate of Butler High School, made the comment, ” Gonna shoot up Butler Junior High School, Intermediate High School or Senior High? ” on Facebook while in a conversation about the Florida school shooting. During the investigation, authorities also discovered that Flecken stated on Facebook that he was going to buy 34 rifles and shoot up his place of employment.
An email was sent out to the parents in the Butler Area School District on Friday evening; however, school was out for most of the district that day.
Flecken is being charged with making terroristic threats.
