Butler Health System is planning to add a new facility in the Ellwood City area.
A statement from BHS says that a Primary Care Facility will be located in the North Star Plaza at 235 State Route 288.
The statement says that BHS has been providing health services to the Ellwood City community for many years including cardiology services.
The timeline for the opening of this facility is not known at this time. Ellwood City Medical Center has been shut down by the Pennsylvania Department of Health since early December due to problems with the owners of the hospital.
In other news from the Butler Health System:
The Butler Health System is adding a new building following a donation from the family of a longtime local dentist.
The children of Dr. and Mrs. Raymond and Jane Blaine have decided to donate the office building located at 301 North McKean Street to BHS.
Blaine built the medical suite in the early 1960s where he practiced dentistry until he retired in 2016. After retiring, Blaine donated equipment and educational materials to the University of Pittsburgh and other local non-profit organizations.
According to Butler Health System President and CEO Ken DeFurio, “this location near the hospital will be put to good use.”
