Research has shown that people are uneducated when it comes to diabetes. They, of course, aware that there are two types of diabetes but a significant number of people don’t know what the differences between the two are and didn’t know that there were different treatments available for them
This is an issue because a lot of people who actually have diabetes don’t understand their condition which means they can’t consciously change their lifestyle to make them healthier and avoid some of the many complications that come with diabetes.
For example, type II diabetics can often experience complications with their legs and feet due to poor circulation. If diabetics don’t know this then they won’t be able to take measures to prevent these issues. And the solution is simple, they just need to by special socks that can promote healthy circulation. So, if you’re a man with diabetes then may be in need of men’s diabetic socks – take a look at Wholesalediabeticsocks.com/diabetic-socks-for-men for more information.
With this lack of knowledge around the condition, there are events and programs available for those suffering from diabetes that will help educate and answer questions they may have.
Adults with diabetes and their families are invited to attend a weekly class to be held by Butler Health System.
The BHS Diabetes Department is offering the program every Wednesday in February from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Crossroads Campus on Oneida Valley Road.
This class will provide cooking and exercise demonstrations with a goal of increasing knowledge about diabetes management.
This free program is open on a first-come-first-served basis and sponsored by the Butler Health System Foundation. Call 724-284-4411 for more information or to reserve a spot.
