On the eve of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which begins Sunday, the Butler Health System has taken steps to create additional opportunities for women to get 3D mammograms.
Kris Bowser, with the BHS Foundation, shared with us that a Breast Tomosynthesis Unit is a machine used by medical professionals to see layers of images. It’s the second such unit that the hospital owns and was recently purchased in order to allow more women to have access to such testing.
The machine is a part of BHS Women’s Care at the health system’s Crossroads Campus on Oneida Valley Road in Summit Township in the new Women’s Imaging Center.
