Autumn Hepler, a Junior at Ursuline College is a member of the Ursuline bowling team that is headed to sectionals in Stratford, New Jersey this weekend in hopes of qualifying for Nationals in Wichita Kansas in April. Ursuline is having their best season to date. The Arrows claimed their first victory last weekend in the Heartland Conference Championships in Canton, Michigan. It was Ursulines first bowling tournament championship in school history. They have finished second 8 times this season along with 2 third place finishes. One of the third place finishes was at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, the largest Intercollegiate championship in the country with 66 college varsity girls teams. They are currently ranked 7th in the Intercollegiate national rankings up from 22nd last year.
The Heartland Championships are all baker games and Autumn helped push Ursuline to the front averaging 20.7 per frame in the 60 frames she bowled. Also striking at a 46% rate (28 of 60). Ursuline averaged 197 in the 20 qualifying games and 216 in the 10 playoff games to win the title. Autumn is averaging 183 through 60 tournament games and 19.5 in baker games. Autumn will be receiving an Academic All American Award at sectionals for the third straight year. Autumn was a member of the 2013 Butler High school state championship team.
Two other members of that team also bowl at the college level: Brea Suchonic has been team captain at Penn State/Atloona. Megan Paul, who won the Pa high school state title last season, is on the roster at Lindenwood, which is ranked fifth in the nation.
Knoch graduate and another past state high school champion, Kevin Hindman is on roster at Morehead State which is ranked ninth in the latest collegiate rankings. .
