Three Slippery Rock University track and field standouts were named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Spring “Top 10” honors Tuesday. The student/athletes were honored for top athletic and academic performance. They include Butler high school graduate Kennedy Evans, also Sabrina Anderson of Warren and David Reinhardt of Bradford. All three are repeat selections from the PSAC Winter Top 10.
Evans, a senior Safety Management major, made the Dean’s list in every semester at Slippery Rock and carried a 3.98 GPA. She was the PSAC champion in the 400-meter hurdles this year, and posted the fastest time in the PSAC this year in the 100-meter hurdles. She qualified for the National Championships in both events.
Anderson becomes just the second female in PSAC history to be named to six Top 10 teams in her career.
Reinhardt was a four-time nominee.
Three new high school basketball coaches have been hired within the WPIAL this week, and that includes Mark Maier taking over the Butler high Girls Basketball program. Maier is a 1988 Butler high graduate.
Plum and Franklin Regional announced boys head coaches this week.
