The Butler Golden Tornado Girl’s 4×800 relay team continued their dominance in the this spring as they took home the WPIAL Individual title at Baldwin High School Thursday afternoon.
The team comprised of Maggie Welty, Liz Simms, Chesna Tomko, and Erin Lemay ran the team relay in 9:16:62. The four girls are coming off of a strong showing at last week’s WPIAL team championships, in which the Butler Girls were named champions.
Welty, Simms, Tomko, and Lemay will now head to the state tournament next Friday where they’ll meet 4×800 teams from across the Keystone state. Preliminary races are scheduled for Friday afternoon, and the final relay set for Saturday morning.
