Butler finished runner-up to North Allegheny Saturday in the 2016 WPIAL Competitive Spirit Championships. Both teams advance to the PIAA championships. Teams from Mars and Pine-Richland also qualified for the state final.
The Butler Boys and Girls Track & Field teams opened their 2016 season Saturday at the SRU Invitational. Emily Horstman, Taylor Weaver and Alexis Leech brought home first place finishes. Horstman won the 55-meter dash and anchored the 4×200 relay team to victory. Weaver on the Pole Vault and Leech won the 400-meter dash.
