Construction is progressing on two projects at the Butler Senior High School but some delays are anticipated as a result of continued material shortages.
The Butler Area School District Board of Directors heard an update Monday night from the district’s construction manager on the Auxiliary Gym project as well as the classroom expansion project.
The estimated date of delivery for the metal gym building is January 26th with students in building trades classes getting periodic tours of the site to help with their learning experience. The Board approved a couple of change orders for damp-proofing the foundation and relocating a batting cage totaling nearly $11,000.
The news on the classroom expansion was not as positive with contractors reporting a delay in receiving the necessary supply of steel that could stretch into May. The district is preparing to begin the year with using part of the expanded cafeteria as classroom space and is also looking into the possibility of bringing in modular classrooms for a time.
The 2022-23 Butler school year will begin the day after Labor Day with an ending date of June 9, 2023.
