Butler County’s Drug Treatment Court has received accreditation from the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Butler’s court is the 18th specialty court to receive this honor since the state started the accreditation program four years ago.
The Butler County Drug Treatment Court provides assistance to adults with addiction issues in the criminal justice system. The drug court represented the first problem-solving court in the County. Problem-Solving Courts are collaborative treatment-based programs specifically designed to work with offenders whose criminal activity is driven by underlying issues.
As an alternative to incarceration, Problem-Solving Courts focus on rehabilitation of participants through early, continuous, and intense judicial oversight, treatment, and use of appropriate sanctions, incentives, and other community-based rehabilitation services.
Butler County Drug Treatment Court has had 18 individuals successfully complete the program. Of these, only 1 has returned to the criminal justice system.
