Friday is Veterans Day.
Several events are planned in Butler.
A ceremony will begin the day at VA Butler Healthcare in Butler Township at 9 a.m. That will be followed by a parade, which will, per tradition, begin at 10:40 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Butler.
Then on Saturday, Veteran of the Year Ronald Huff will be recognized at a special luncheon at the American Legion Post 778. Huff served in the Navy for three years as an engineman.
“It’s one of those things that touched my heart like you could never believe,” Huff said. “I’m so proud to think that my superiors or other veterans think that I’m worthy for this. It’s quite an honor for me.”
He currently serves the community by conducting Veterans Day presentations at area schools and organizing homecoming events for veterans in the Chicora area.
