A Butler County judge is just a step away from filling a vacancy on the federal court bench.
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the nomination of Marilyn Jean Horan Thursday, who has been a Butler County Common Pleas Court judge for 20 years.
President Obama nominated Horan back in July to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey endorsed her during judiciary committee hearings in December.
The full Senate now must approve the nomination.
