As it usually is in a non-presidential primary year, voter turnout was low.
In Butler County, 19 percent of registered voters visited the polls– 18 percent of Democrats and 20 percent of Republicans.
There are 108,625 total registered voters in the county. On Tuesday, 21,489 total ballots were cast. Of those 21,489 ballots, 14,236 were Republican ballots; 7,253 were Democratic ballots, according to unofficial results from the Butler County Bureau of Elections.
