Butler County will receive less state money from natural gas drilling impact fees this year.
According to the state Public Utility Commission, the county’s disbursement for 2015 drilling is $1.9 million, which is down from last year’s $2.1 million.
Some local municipalities will also receive money including nearly $214,000 to Butler Township, nearly $207,000 to Forward Township, over $181,000 to Connoquenessing Township, and over $168,000 to Cranberry Township.
Revenue from impact fees can be used to repair roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, as well as protect air and water resources, train first responders, and fund social services.
