A Butler County agency is helping Butler City pay to remove a blighted property.
City Zoning Officer John Evans informed Butler City Council during a meeting on Tuesday night that he had been contacted by the Butler County Redevelopment Authority who offered Act 137 funds for demolition.
The city already had plans to approve a bid of just under $13,000 to pay Young and Sons Excavation to demolish 220 Fifth Avenue, so the county money will be put toward that expense.
No one on council could remember the county offering to pick up the bill for this kind of expense in the past, but Butler Mayor Ben Smith said the Butler County commissioners have indicated a willingness to help the city moving forward.
