The group behind the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame wants to expand its displays.
In a letter written by the Hall of Fame board and shared by Butler County Commissioner Kevin Boozel, organizers say the display cases- which are located inside the bridge connecting the Butler County Courthouse and Government Center in downtown Butler- are nearly full.
The county has given the group permission to add cases, and there is room to include three more. The cases each cost $3,000.
The board is reaching out to the community for help in purchasing the cases. They hope the men, women and teams currently recognized in the Hall of Fame will be willing to help the board recognize even more local athletes.
“Butler County has been blessed to have produced so many athletes who have been able to reach the heights that each of you have reached,” the letter reads. “It is the board’s sincere hope that these new cases can be built in preparation for the future inductees.”
The board says all money donated will go directly to purchase the new displays.
To donate, you’re asked to send a check by Aug. 15 made payable to the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 1793, Butler, PA 16003.
