The Butler County Family YMCA has kicked off its annual Support Campaign, which provides memberships and programs for those in need.
The effort was formerly known as the Strong Kids Campaign, but was renamed to better describe who the YMCA assists, which officials say is children, individuals and families.
Last year, about $280,000 in financial assistance was provided to 1,600 people in the Butler community via memberships and programs. This year’s campaign goal is $350,000.
“The YMCA’s goal is to make programs and services available for all,” Jill Zoria, Butler County Family YMCA’s Development Director, said in a statement. “We help people by offering financial assistance to those in need – children, individuals and families.”
In addition to offering financial assistance, the YMCA also partners with organizations to provide programming at no cost to participants. The Y has partnered with several organizations including the Area Agency on Aging, Mars Home for Youth, VA Butler Healthcare and the Community Health Clinic of Butler County.
“From exercise programs for seniors, at-risk youth, and Veterans to efforts to feed hungry children or offering a supportive environment for health, we truly offer something for people of all ages and backgrounds,” Zoria said. “We are thankful for the generosity of our donors in helping us to help others.”
The Butler County Family YMCA includes the Butler YMCA in the city of Butler and the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA in Cranberry Township. The organization also owns and operates ARMCO Park, located in Slippery Rock.
