Chairman of the Butler County board of commissioners is running for another term.
Leslie Osche announced Friday she will seek re-election next year for the four-year term running 2020 through 2023.
Osche said she believes she and Commissioner Kim Geyer are a solid Republican team, and have been able to work successfully with Democratic Commissioner Kevin Boozel to achieve fiscal, economic development, transportation, public safety and human services goals for Butler County over the last three years.
“It’s all about keeping good on promises I made when I ran,” Osche said.
She points to the following achievements of the Board.
“I promised to hold the line of property taxes by driving efficiency, promoting development, insuring the county is competitive in securing and managing state and federal funding, and creating a long-term plan to manage growth,” shes said.
- No tax increases. The County’s revenue, averaging 1.7 percent per year in property tax collection, is outpacing budget growth of 1.5 percent per year through cost containment efforts.
- Fund balance has grown from $2 million to over $7 million since 2015, providing solid cash flow and three months of reserves.
- Adopted a compensation plan for non-union employees establishing pay grades and ranges, capping salary growth to reflect economic indexes, while encouraging personal advancement.
- Grateful to both non-union and union employees for cooperation in controlling long-term costs while being rewarded for outstanding service. New approach saves at least $250,000 per year.
