The emergency calls started coming in to the Butler County 911 Center on Thursday afternoon.
The calls started to get more numerous as we headed into the evening, and then continued nonstop throughout the overnight. It appears Butler County took the brunt of the weather-related issues.
There have been reports of downed trees blocking portions of roadways; closing several roads completely; trees coming down on top of cars. There was at least one report of a tree that came down on top of a home. No injuries were reported regarding that situation.
Power lines were brought down either by downed trees and limbs, or due to the heavy snow and ice on them. There were reports of several live power lines that came down and then subsequently caught fire.
In a few cases, it was reported that snow plows attempting to clear roads were blocked by down trees or power lines.
