There was a spirit of cooperation at Thursday night’s joint meeting between the Butler City Council and the Butler Township Commissioners.
A wide variety of topics were discussed, including development and projects taking place in each municipality. Fireworks was a topic of conversation with the groups agreeing that a committee with members from different municipalities would be useful in the effort to find money to fund next year’s display.
On the subject of paving, the two groups discussed a possible intergovernmental agreement to share road responsibilities in some areas. Such an agreement would require both municipalities to adopt ordinances outlining the parameters. Councilwoman Kathy Kline said that this kind of agreement would be “worth looking into.”
Although the date for the next joint meeting has not been set, it will likely be sometime in the spring.
