A home in the City of Butler was significantly damaged after a fire broke out this morning.
It happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of Bredin Avenue—which is just off of West Pearl Street.
“The initial calls for the fire were multiple callers reporting the house on fire. When our crews pulled out of the fire station, they could already see the column of smoke already as they were responding,” Butler City Fire Chief Chris Switala said.
It took crews about a half hour to get the fire under control according to Switala. He also determined that it started in the first floor living room, but the cause is currently under investigation.
“There was fire damage throughout about half of the first floor, with smoke and heat damage throughout the remainder. It was a single story home so it was pretty much a total loss,” Switala said.
Switala said no one was inside the home when the fire broke out. The Red Cross is currently assisting the person that lived at the house.
There was also some damage to the siding and electrical service of a neighboring house.
Butler Township, the Butler VA, Butler City Police, and Butler Ambulance all assisted with the call.
