Butler City Deputy Police Chief David Adam has retired.
Butler Mayor Ben Smith said Adam submitted his resignation on Thursday and the mayor has accepted it.
Adam will receive his full pension as earned through his 27 years of service on the force, according to city officials.
Adam had been on paid administrative leave since last month when it became public that the police union had taken a no-confidence vote in June against the department’s two leaders. Former Chief Ron Brown announced his retirement last month.
At this time, Mayor Smith says he is leaning towards not filling the now vacant Deputy Chief position. The process by which the mayor selects a new police chief is ongoing. Until then, Captain James Hollobaugh remains the officer-in-charge of the 21-member Butler City Police Department.
