Butler City Council is expected to vote on Thursday to officially adopt the 2018 budget.
The proposed $9 million budget would include a property tax decrease by 1 mill. This reduction is due to the city having lower electric bills due to converting their street lights to LED lighting. The average city homeowner will pay about $8 less.
This will mark the first time in four years that Butler City Council has not had to raise taxes in order to achieve a balanced budget.
