Butler City Council has updated the job description for the recently posted position of joint Fire Chief of Butler City and Butler Township.
That job description lists responsibilities including leading, managing, directing and supervising all missions and functions of all departments, as well as training, professional development and discipline of all firefighters.
Qualification requirements include a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Science, or a related field, as well as 10 years of experience in a paid fire department. This position will be supervised by the City Director of Public Safety and the Butler Township Manager.
The salary has yet to be officially determined. Butler City’s previous Fire Chief made a salary of $78,000 per year but Council members agreed that the new position will be responsible for more, such as duties in the township so will likely be paid more.
Approximately eight applicants have expressed interest in the job so far and interviews could begin in the near future once the pool of candidates is a little bigger.
