Butler City Police and some other city employees are one step closer to receiving new vehicles.
On Thursday night, Butler City Council voted to finalize a $200,000 loan for the purpose of purchasing vehicles and equipment for three different city departments. The NexTier loan will be repaid over a two-year term.
The city will pay nearly $84,000 to purchase three 2018 Ford Explorer Interceptors from Day Ford, Inc. Although those vehicles are in stock, it will take some time to get them specially fitted so that they can be used by police. Council plans to get bids from companies that perform that service.
“Our vehicles are falling apart,” Deputy Police Chief Dave Adam told council.
The city also plans to purchase a 2018 Ford Escape from Day Ford for just over $22,000 for use by the zoning and code management officers.
The rest of the money will likely be used to purchase a large truck for the streets department but the specifications of what is needed are still being finalized.
