The Butler High School boys basketball team defeated State College in overtime 53-50 in the second round of the PIAA playoffs Thursday evening.
Butler got off to a slow start but turned things around by half time leading 27-24. It was a back and forth second half that ended in a tie at 49 sending the game into overtime. It was the first overtime game Butler had this year and they held off State College for a 53-50 win.
Top scorers for the night for Butler were Ethan Morton with 14 points, Jason Gray with 12 points and Tyler Frederick with 10 points. Butler moves on to play Pine Richland in the quarter finals at a time and place to be determined.
Congratulations to the Butler Boys Basketball team for making it to the quarter finals for the first time since 2011.
