Local Special Olympic athletes traveled to the state’s capital Monday and were honored with a big donation.
Six Butler County Special Olympic bowling athletes were recognized in Harrisburg at an event titled ‘Strike Out Stigma’ sponsored by the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of Pennsylvania.
The association then presented the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania with a $3,000 donation.
The local athletes train at the Family Bowlaway Fun Center in Butler. Director of Marketing Tricia Pritchard says Family Bowlaway has hosted the Special Olympics bowling program for 60 years, making it the oldest Special Olympics bowling program in the country.
