High School Sports:
–Plum won the WPIBL Boys Team tournament Wednesday in Mt. Lebanon with a 2-0 win over Greensburg Salem. New Castle finished third. The Butler boys bowlers finished eighth overall and advanced to the Pennsylvania Western Regional championships later this month. The Butler and Freeport girls teams are among 24 teams competing today.
Armstrong bowler Jacob Sullivan made the WPIBL All-Tournament team with a 643 series yesterday.
–The Karns City and Moniteau girls basketball teams will be competing in the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference semifinals Friday night at Clarion University. The Gremlins will face Cranberry at 6pm. (Karns City defeated Cranberry 38-26 in December.) The Warriors will meet Redbank Valley at 7:30pm. (Redbank Valley won the regular-season D9 title. They defeated Moniteau 64-44 earlier in the season). The two winners will play for the KSAC Championship Saturday at the PennWest Clarion Tippin Gymnasium at 8pm.
–The Grove City girls basketball team defeated Sharon 41-25 in District 10 play last night.
